27 May 2018Presentation night 2017
Friday November 10th.
Another well supported presentation dinner and dance at Ponthir Village Hall with over 100 members present. The Hog roast proved to be a success and the cabaret performance by the two Tenna Ladies was superb.
I forgot to mention on the night, and would like to put right, certain people who helped in making it such a good evening.
Firstly to our Hon. Sec., Robin Matthews, who worked over the past months very hard to make sure that you joined in the fun. I was out of the country so it was due to him that we had such a large group and he also sorted out the arrangements and trophies. He works tirelessly in the background for the benefit of the league. He also suggested that the event be sponsored from the league funds and where else could you find such an evening for £10 pp?
Also the preparation on the day in setting out the hall in the afternoon was helped by a number of Caerleon members namely, Ray Williams, Janet Price, Ian Wheeler, Doug Tapp, Sheila Jones and Robin with his wife Carol. Thanks to all for this help.
During the course of the evening our two guys who run the clubs social media, Steve Morgan –Facebook and Wilf Hall – Website, were around the hall taking photos so please look at these sites to get an idea of how good an evening it was. Finally Janet Price and Fran Jones, for selling the raffle tickets and Huw and Matthew Morris for organising the £1 nearest the whisky bottle.
The raffle prizes cost £160 and we took £280. So we have made a donation of £120 to the poppy appeal. Thanks to all of you who joined in and contributed.
Here is looking to meet you all next season on the piste?
